About Sensory Friendly Family

I created this website as a stepping stone for families to explore the world of sensory to help their loved ones. When my son was first diagnosed with autism at the age of 2, we had nowhere to turn to and no starting point. The world of special needs was new to us and at times became very overwhelming. Understanding IEP’s, parent rights, therapies, early learning, early intervention, and finding programs to try can be a lot. On top of that, we often struggled to find sensory friendly toys, vacations, and activities that could accommodate for our families’ needs. I hope this website is able to help with some of these stepping stones as you explore the world of special needs, inclusivity and acceptance.
